Making of: Tale Of The Fox

Sketching and understanding shapes of fox.

Don't look the maker of photo, but the dynamics of drawing. Those are so fluid. My last project was to make a comicbookstrip or a graphic novel called Tale Of The Fox.
The idea came from the journey to Lapland with my school class. There we were in the middle of nowhere. There were no phone connections. Just one wilderness cabin. There was a attention sign that said: " Take food and belongings to tents. Tame fox is stealing!"  So we went to sleep and in the morning, one of the crew member wakes up and runs after the fox. The fox has steal foods from other crew member´s backbag. The fox also stole bottle of ignition fluid. And that's how I got this idea for illustration.

The style of  this comicstrip is a traditional pencil and photoshop technique, coloring looks like it was made with colorpens or charcoals. I usually make a sketch or sketches, put those into the scanner and start to ink it digitally, but now I wanted that the artwork is bit rough and saturated with warm and welcoming colors.

Drawing is all about designing with rich imagination. Figure must be seperated to blocks: "where the eyes should be? What is the shape of the figure´s skull and body?" First you have to do some research because there's no chance that you might remember the specific features. Then is the search the anatomy:  Do not copy, just observe. Then you can start the main designing part.
